Flights of Fantasy

Concert 6 | Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 7:30 P.M.
Arkansas Best Corporation Performing Arts Center

The Fort Smith Symphony concludes its fantastic 2011-12 season with an evening of concert masterworks. Debussy’s beautiful impressionistic music is followed by Michael Schelle’s Wright Flight, a dramatic work completed in 2003 to commemorate the one hundredth anniversary of the Wright Brother’s first flight. This work, for piano and orchestra, features the brilliant young Japanese pianist, Miho Sasaki.

Composed in 1899, Elgar’s majestic Enigma Variations is a musical tour-de-force of orchestral color, drama and beauty and one of the most popular works in the entire concert repertoire.
